Daniel Powter

Title Bad Day
Artist Daniel Powter
Writer Daniel Powter (BMI)
Publisher Universal Music Publishing Pty Ltd

Canadian born artist Daniel Powter is fast becoming recognised for his superbly crafted, edgy pop: The songs are catchy, the rhythms infectious, the chords rock-solid beneath hooks that dig into your brain and don't let go. Dark lyrics thread through those happy melodies, some of which he sings with a hint of sarcasm and anger tightening the quiver in his falsetto. He focuses on everyday life, though he doesn't miss the dirt swept under society's rug.

He made his first record while still living in the Okanogan Valley, and won airplay in Rocktoria, a radio contest held in Victoria, British Columbia. From there he started honing his song writing and sending out demos, to which he received a strong response. He eventually found himself signed to Warner Brothers and working on an album with producer Mitchell Froom whose credits include Elvis Costello, Los Lobos, Crowded House, Paul McCartney, and other giants.

His self-titled debut has reached Gold sales status in Australia. His hit single "Bad Day" went Platinum and reached number 3 on the ARIA chart. The album, which also features the single "Free Loop," reached number 14 on the ARIA Album chart. On April 1, 2006, he was named the best new artist at the Canadian Juno Awards.

Jesse McCartney

Title Beautiful Soul
Artist Jesse McCartney
Writers Andrew Dodd (ASCAP)/Adam Watts (ASCAP)
Publisher EMI Music Publishing Australia Pty Ltd

In the USA Jesse McCartney's debut solo alum Beautiful Soul has already been certified platinum for a million copies sold, while its title track peaked at #3 in the Top 40 and reached #2 on AOL Music. McCartney also came out of nowhere to nab the public's attention with his appearances on MTV's TRL (USA) and radio play lists. McCartney's video made it into TRL's prestigious "retirement home" after being voted into the top 10 fifty times.

Featuring collaborations with impressive producers/songwriters like Matthew Gerrard (Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson), Robbie Nevil (Babyface, Destiny's Child), Andreas Carlson (Britney Spears) and Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Ricky Martin), Beautiful Soul showcases McCartney's blend of up-tempo, modern pop/rock/R&B/dance beats and strong melodies that evokes both Hall & Oates' blue-eyed soul and Michael Jackson at his '80s peak. Other songs are influenced by admitted McCartney fave U.K. star Craig David's influential two-step garage and old-school Motown.

Beautiful Soul is testament to Jesse's talent as a singer and songwriter and truly transcends his past appearances in hit group Dream Street or his Emmy-nominated stint as an actor in the long-running afternoon drama All My Children and starring role in the current WB smash series, Summerland, as Bradin Westerly.

In Australia both the album and the title track "Beautiful Soul" reached Number 1 on the ARIA Charts, and the album has also achieved Platinum sales.
