Decided by the votes of APRA members. All songs written by an APRA member and released in the preceding financial year are eligible for consideration.
Songwriter of the Year
Decided by APRA's Board of writer and publisher directors rewarding the songwriter who has recorded the most impressive body of work in the previous year.
Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music
Decided by APRA's Board of Writer and Publisher Directors.
Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year
Decided by APRA's Board of Writer and Publisher Directors for an emerging songwriter or groups of writers.
Most Played Awards
The following awards are given based on APRA's statistical analysis:
- Most Played Australian Work
- Most Played Australian Work Overseas
Work of the Year Awards
- Blues and Roots Work of the Year
- Call for Blues & Roots Release information" is emailed to APRA's membership. Members are asked to submit eligible works via APRA's website for the relevant period.
- Data gathered via the website is cross referenced with AIR charts.
- Once nominations are finalised an independent body will review the works to determine they are suited to the genre.
- Country Work of the Year
- List of works compiled from the Country Tracks Top 30. This is compiled from radio airplay of tracks released in Australia in the relevant period.
- Music Network Country Music chart is also used to cross reference with Country Tracks chart.
- Dance Work of the Year
- List of works compiled from ARIA club and AIR dance/electronica charts. This is based on all works charted and released in the relevant period.
- Jazz Work of the Year
- Independent body appointed to research all Jazz releases. Record labels approached to provide details of works released in eligible period.
- In addition to this a "Call for Jazz Release information" is emailed to APRA's membership. Members are asked to submit eligible works via APRA's website.
- Once nominations are finalised the independent body will review the works to determine they are suited to the genre .
- Urban Work of the Year
- List of works compiled from ARIA Urban chart and cross referenced with ARIA singles Top 100 chart. This is based on all works charted and released in the relevant period.
