APRA is proud to announce our involvement in two significant indigenous events this June.


Songwriters Speak at the Dreaming

In conjunction with The Dreaming, APRA is presenting three Songwriter Speaks sessions, where artists performing at the festival will conduct workshops on the art and craft of songwriting for festival attendees.

Featured artists are performer and musician Lou Bennett (Tiddas); Dan Sultan, a young and vibrant vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from Melbourne, together with his guitarist and co-writer Scott Wilson. Also appearing is Sydney-based MC Ebony Williams, conducting a workshop specifically for aspiring hip-hop performers.

Whichway Music Industry Workshops

If you are an emerging NSW Indigenous contemporary music artist and have some industry experience, or are serious about developing your career in the music industry, register now for Whichway.

MusicNSW, Whichway and APRA are running a four-day music industry and songwriting workshop and information sessions from June 19-22 to be held at the Redfern Community Centre. Whichway is the key music development program for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music industry in NSW.

Top contemporary Indigenous music artists - Joel and Naomi Wenitong (Last Kinection, Shakaya) and Lucas Proudfoot will present the APRA songwriting workshops, covering topics such as: arrangement; lyric writing; choosing the right producer and studio; and personal experiences about the music industry.
