By Mark Eades, Manager Publisher Services APRA|AMCOS
Daniel Threadgold has been appointed as our new Research and Copyright Administrator. Daniel comes to Publisher Services from the Research section in the Distribution department where he has been working for almost nine years, and we welcome his experience and enthusiasm.
Daniel replaces Alana Wood (nee Ganderton), who finished work at APRA on February 9. Alana had been employed at APRA in the Member Services department for almost nine years, and had been working as a Research and Copyright Administrator in Publisher Services for the last three years. Alana has left to prepare for the birth of her first child and, sadly for us, it is unfeasible for her to return to APRA in the foreseeable future. I would like to thank Alana for all the hard work she has done during her time in Member Services and extend best wishes for the future to her and her family.

Lorin Pickup has been appointed as our new Publisher Representative. We welcome Lorin to Publisher Services from the Distribution department, where she has been working for about two and a half years and has attained strong knowledge and experience relating to works ownership and agreement registrations.
Lorin replaces Tim Batson, who also finished working in Publisher Services on February 9, having accepted the position of Supervisor of the newly-created Works Registration section in the Distribution department. I would like to congratulate Tim on his success in attaining a more senior role within APRA|AMCOS.

Miriam Nies is now looking after the CMS Help Desk responsibilities which Tim Batson had also been assigned since our Senior Officer Gillian Dunn commenced maternity leave in November last year; Miriam will continue to be the Help Desk contact until Gillian’s return in July.
I would also like to thank Laurel Smith for her assistance to Publisher Services in taking on Gillian’s Publisher Representative duties since November; because Laurel has now been promoted to the role of Senior Officer of Writer Services (congratulations Laurel), her secondment to Publisher Services finished on 1 February.

Please note that because it is unfeasible to train another temporary replacement to take on Gillian’s Publisher Representative duties for only four months during this time of general upheaval in Publisher Services, we are one staff member down from the usual number, so staff workloads will be considerably increased until July; we will therefore appreciate our publisher members’ patience during this difficult time.
