It has become apparent that, following the departmental restructure discussed in the last issue of Antenna, many publisher members are still unsure which group email addresses to use when contacting APRA|AMCOS. In particular, many members are still sending emails regarding mechanical right ownership of works to cmscf@apra.com.au, when mech@apra.com.au should generally be used instead. Please take note of the following:
mech@apra.com.au
This email address is to be used whenever you need to query the mechanical right ownership shown on CMS for a work or catalogue, notify us of a change to your mechanical right ownership, discuss mechanical right ownership disputes, or advise us of any matter related to work ownership for the mechanical right. Any correspondence regarding mechanical right divisions-of-fee (MDOFs), mechanical right ownership registrations (MREGs), or mechanical right ownership claims (MROCs) should be sent to this address.
This email address is read by the Mechanical Catalogue Administrators in Publisher Services (Russell Tainton and Matt Barber).
If your query or advice is also relevant for performing right ownership, please cc your Publisher Representative, or where performing right ownership is in dispute you may cc Chris Moller (Senior Research and Copyright Administrator) at cmoller@apra.com.au.
cmscf@apra.com.au
Members’ need to use this email address should now be limited. Following the departmental restructure, Clearance Facility staff no longer deal with the mechanical right ownership of works on CF productions, so please do not send correspondence regarding mechanical right work ownership to this address any longer – please send such correspondence to mech@apra.com.au instead.
The cmscf@apra.com.au address is to be used if you need to query or discuss the track details shown for productions on the Clearance Facility (although all substitution/merge requests for works on CF productions can be done via the Substitute function in the claim window on CMS/CF).
CF-related FTP queries and queries about productions on hold can also be sent to this group address. This email address is read by Clearance Facility staff (supervisor Catherine Bannister); the Clearance Facility is now part of the Commercial Recordings section of the Recordings & Online Services department (manager Leanne Walton).
mechint@apra.com.au
This email address can be used to query or discuss mechanical right ownership disputes arising from AMCOS Societies claims (claims made by AMCOS on behalf of members of affiliated mechanical right societies). It is read by the Works Ownership section of the Distribution department (primarily Margaret Ferreira).
