Thanks to Narelle Butterworth for over two years of outstanding work for Publisher Services; I know many of our publisher members have appreciated the responsive and efficient service Narelle provided during her time in the section, and her friendly and approachable manner.

Narelle has now taken on an Events Coordinator role within Member Services, to support Events Manager, Jana Gibson, throughout her upcoming maternity leave and beyond. Congratulations Narelle, we wish you success and fulfillment in your new job. Publishers which were previously represented by Narelle will now be looked after by our new Publisher Representative, Calvin Wong.

DISTRIBUTION NEWS

Special APRA Distribution: It has come to our attention that some publishers which were paid in the special July APRA distribution and receive electronic statements may have had difficulties processing the electronic statement files we provided. We are aware of the problem and looking into a solution, but please let Mark Eades know if you experience difficulties processing your EDI files for this special distribution.

APRA Distribution 45B: In preparation for the APRA|AMCOS Sydney office move to Ultimo, plans are underway to commence distribution processing earlier than usual this year.

We remind publishers of registration cut-off dates for APRA Distribution 45B processing purposes:

• Agreement Registrations (on-line and Agreement Registration Forms):  Friday 29 August 2008
• Work Registrations (on-line, bulk and index card):  Friday 5 September 2008

Registrations received after these dates will not take effect for performing right divisions-of-fee until after the distribution is complete.

AMCOS June 2008 quarter distribution: We are pleased to announce that the headline commission rate for members for the June 2008 quarter AMCOS distribution (to be paid at the end of August) will be reduced by 4%.

AMCOS September 2008 quarter distribution: It is likely that the September quarter distribution will be processed and paid earlier than usual this year due to the Sydney office move to Ultimo; we will advise members when the distribution schedule has been finalised.

APRA|AMCOS NEWS

New APRA|AMCOS Website: In mid-August APRA|AMCOS will be launching a whole new website. Designed and developed with all our stakeholders in mind, the new site features an updated look and feel, improved navigation and functionality. Plus, it’s running on a whole new foundation, so we’ll be getting news and information to you much faster! Keep your eye on www.apra.com.au over the coming weeks for a sneak peek at the new site. All members will be notified by direct email when the new site is officially launched.

Call for APRA and AMCOS Board Nominations: In accordance with the APRA and AMCOS Constitutions, nominations for the position of Board Director are now open. Support Act welcomes Joanna Forman

Support Act Limited (SAL), the registered charity set up to help those in the music industry who are suffering hardship, has appointed a part-time fundraising and administration manager. Joanna Forman took up the position at the end of June, and brings with her experience from the publishing and not for profit sector. This role will see Joanna take responsibility for non welfare related activities and be a point of contact for the organisation. A priority will be to source funding from different areas, such as Government and the corporate sector, to help maintain SAL's level of assistance to applicants, as well as growing SAL's membership base.
