KAYE HAWLEY'S UPDATE

by Kaye Hawley
Manager Publisher Services, APRA

Distribution 42B has been a particularly busy distribution and there have been 432 foreign catalogue changes involving 13,644 works.  On the local side, 258 local writer changes involving some 5,531 works.  When compared with 42A which had around 258 foreign catalogue transfers involving 5,531 works, it has been a very active period for the publishers and has certainly kept us on our toes.

Unfortunately the downside of this activity has been an increase in the amount of works in the Suspense and Dispute Works reports.  As usual the majority of these disputes are hip hop/dance works where there is disagreement as to writer and sample shares.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite our publisher members who are not already registering works on-line, to consider taking advantage of this great facility.  I encourage you to seriously think about this option as it dispenses with the need to complete paper forms and index cards.

If you are interested, please contact publisher@apra.com.au. We will help you through the simple software installation process with the full support of our our IT department. You will be provided with full operating manuals, plus your publisher representative as well as the APRA IT Help Desk will be available to assist you during business hours.
