Recent APRA and AMCOS Board Decisions: June 2006

The following decisions were made at the APRA and AMCOS Board Meetings held on 7 and 8 June (respectively):

  • The APRA Board has resolved to contact all members with current email addresses to confirm their willingness to receive the annual report electronically and also meeting notices, nomination forms, proxy forms and procedures for voting electronically (subject to electronic voting being a viable option.)
  • The APRA Board approved the Music Grants Committee's recommendations for recipients of 2006/2007 APRA Music Grants.
  • APRA will provide detailed comment on th Government's proposed changes to the Copyright Act once released in July. CISAC will also express its objection to the proposed changes.
  • APRA is partnering with the Australia Council in relation to indigenous research projects.
  • The APRA Board is seeking legal advice about myspace and the use of music content on the site.
  • APRA/AMCOS together with Screenrights, launched ISAN on 15 June 2006.
  • The AMCOS Board resolved to amend AMCOS distribution rules to reflect 50% to owner(s) of © in the underlying work; 25% to owner of the exclusive right to print and publish copies of the work for Australia; 25% to the owner of the © in the published edition photo-copied. Default to 50/50 split between work owner and print right owner in certain circumstances.
