MARK EADES' UPDATE
by Mark Eades
Manager Publisher Services, APRA|AMCOS
2007 has been a year of changes for Publisher Services, and the end of the year has brought more.
On Friday 30 November we gave a fond farewell to Sandra Diaz, who left Publisher Services after working in the section since early 2003. Sandra will be missed by the many publisher members for whom she acted as Publisher Representative over the years, particularly those newer publishers who Sandra helped to become acquainted with APRA business and registration systems. We wish Sandra every success in her new job at Extreme Australia. Publishers which were previously represented by Sandra will for the time being be represented by Caroline McKnight (cmcknight@apra.com.au, 02 9935 7771).
Chris Moller will be leaving his position of Senior Research and Copyright Administrator in Publisher Services at the end of 2007 but will remain within the Member Services department, taking on the position of Senior Writer Services Representative that was recently vacated by Bow Campbell. Thanks to Chris for his four and a half years of hard work in Publisher Services doing complicated copyright ownership research and assisting our publisher and writer members to resolve their copyright ownership disputes.
Replacements for Sandra and Chris will be announced in early 2008.
Finally I would like to wish all of our publisher members a happy and relaxing Christmas and festive season and a safe and prosperous New Year. Please note that APRA|AMCOS offices will close for business on Friday 21 December 2007, re-opening on Wednesday 2 January 2008. Publishers whose APRA representatives will be taking additional leave in early 2008 will be notified by your rep, and you may contact Publisher Services Team Leader, Gillian Dunn (gdunn@apra.com.au, 02 9935 7755) with any urgent queries you may have in your rep’s absence.

PUBLISHER SEMINARS: CAE to IPI Transfer
As we advised in the September issue of Antenna, the unique identifier code for writers and publishers used by collecting societies internationally has changed from the 9-digit CAE number to the 11-digit IPI number. Our Chief Information Officer, Gus Jansen, will be presenting seminars for our publisher members in December to discuss modifications that will be made to our CMS/CF database and EDI files to accommodate this change, and modifications publishers may need to make to their own systems.
Seminars are to be held at our Sydney office at 11am on Thursday 6 December and at our Melbourne office at 11am on Wednesday 12 December. Please contact Mark Eades as soon as possible (meades@apra.com.au, 02 9935 7775) if you wish to attend either the Sydney or Melbourne seminar.
