INTERNATIONAL ACCORDION COMPETITION "COUPE MONDIALE 2008" (Scotland) - 31 August 2008

The 61st International Coupe Mondiale competition 2008 will be held in six categories.

QUEEN MARIE JOSE COMPOSITION PRIZE (Switzerland) - 31 August 2008

The Queen Marie José international musical composition prize will be awarded in November 2008. Its aim is to single out a work for a solo part (sung or instrumental) and electronics, not yet performed.

CLONMEL NATIONAL SONG CONTEST (Ireland) - 1 September 2008

Songwriters of any nationality are invited to submit entries on a cassette tape or CD, with one typewritten copy of the lyrics. Songs should be previously unreleased and should not exceed four minutes. 10 songs will be selected for the final which will take place on Friday 7 November. Tipp FM Radio will record the final for broadcast at a later date, and the winning entrant will perform their winning song at SongFest.ie on the following day, as part of the young songwriter's workshop.

TAKEMITSU COMPOSITION AWARD 2009 (Japan) - 30 September 2008

Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (annual competition of orchestral composition), which is a international composition award following Takemitsu's principles "Prayer, Hope, Peace", continues since 1997 to encourage younger generation of composers who will shape the coming age by creating new orchestra works.

Song Expo (Netherlands) - 2 October 2008

The Song Expo welcomes Songwriters, Composers, Lyricists and Poets to promote themselves globally as well as win some great awards. The Winning Song will be released on a promotional CD which will be distributed to 500 national en regional radio stations in the Benelux territory. There are also additional awards totaling 1500 Euros for Song 2008, Poem/Lyrics (in a song) and Arrangement. All winners and the best entries of each country will receive Medals of Honor. Entries close October 2 2008.

Categories include Classical Music, Country/Folk, Dance, Instrumental (All Categories), Jazz, Latin, Poem/Lyrics (No Composer), Pop/AC, R&B/Rap/Soul, Rock, World Music, Chanson/Various, Kids Music

Queen Elisabeth International Composition Competition - 7 November 2008

Competition for composers to take place in November 2008 and the World Premiere performance in May 2009. The work selected will be performed during the finals of violin competition in Brussels with the National Orchestra of Belgium. Grand prize is 10000 euro plus radio & television broadcasts and a recording on CD and/or DVD. 4 finalists will receive 1500 euro each
